Omaha Children's Museum is bringing farm life to the big city! The special exhibit, Once Upon a Farm,
will open Saturday, October 18, and run through April 12, 2015
This exhibit is designed to teach children and their families all about the important role agriculture plays in their everyday lives. Throughout the exhibit, guests will encounter interactive displays that incorporate machinery, water, livestock, crops and other resources needed to create the food and products we find at the store and use in our homes.
Children can slide behind the seat of a combine, wheel around a pedal track maze, learn what it takes to milk a dairy cow or hop aboard the Ag Express for an up-close look at a real life tractor.
Little farmers can learn all about water and irrigation while playing under the child-sized Valley®
center pivot and see what it takes to plant and care for crops in the miniature planting station. Daily programming will focus on a new topic each week and will incorporate various farm animals on special weekends throughout the exhibit’s run.
This exhibit is the sixth community-engaged exhibit created by OCM with 18 partners from across the community and the state of Nebraska, including Valmont®
Industries. The community-engaged exhibits program is based on the principle that by involving the individuals and businesses around us, together we can create something that is inspiring, educational and valuable to the community.
